Promote Cooperation

"In order to cultivate a positive college-classroom learning environment, it is important that all members of the classroom community share responsibility and be invested in one another's learning in a cooperative, rather than competitive, nature." (Talking Diversity 38)

The infographic provides a list of strategies that can be used to promote cooperation in the classroom. It includes diverse activities i.e. Sharing Ideas & Opinions, Compare & Contrasting Ideas and Working Together. It is based on an article A List Of 50+ Teaching Strategies To Jumpstart Your TeacherBrain which outlines 87 instructional strategies.  



This resource relates to the theme since it provides teachers with strategies to promote learning in a co-operative environment. Teachers may use the strategies outlined in the sections Work Together and Get Moving to encourage co-operation and promote co-operation.


The level of reflection for this particular resource is surface reflection. The activities could be incorporated into the classroom in order to engage student into working together. There is no mention of why these activities are effective nor is any context given for them. It is up to the teacher how, when and why they may wish to use them. They may be used as part of a pedagogical reflection should the teacher chose to do so.
